Easy crochet cowls- Patterns

 It's Friday! It's been a bit chilly in Charlottetown for the past few days, just yesterday we have an ice storm! So I decided to work on some new cowl patterns. I love cowls, they're so easy and fast to make and I wear them everywhere in the winter :)
 I created 2 different but equally easy patterns;

I used a 5.00mm hook and Caron Simply Soft yarn for both projects. Any yarn is fine, just make sure that the hook is the right size for the yarn and that the number of chains is a multiple of the indicated number.

Crochet Granny Stitch Cowl
Chain 72(I like my cowls to be close to the neck, but any multiple of 4 will work)
Slip stitch into the first chain to create a ring, careful not to twist!

Round 1-     Chain 1, single crochet in the same stitch, single crochet in every stitch around, slip stitch into the first single crochet

Round 2-     Chain 3, double crochet 2 times into the same stitch, *chain 1-skip 3 stitches-3 double crochet in the next stitch *, repeat from * to * for the row, slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 to join

Round 3-     Slip stitch to the next chain 1 space, chain 3, double crochet 2 times in the same space, *chain 1-3 double crochet in the next space(chain 1 space from the last round) * Repeat from * to * for the row, slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 to join.

Round 4-     Repeat round 3 until you reach your desired length(mine was 18 rows total of granny stitch)

Cross Stitch Cowl
Chain 72(or multiple of 2), slip stitch into the first chain to create a ring, careful not to twist!

Round 1-     Chain 1, single crochet in the same stitch, single crochet in every stitch around, slip stitch into the first single crochet

Round 2-     Chain 3, double crochet in the previous stitch, *skip 1 stitch double crochet in the next stitch, double crochet back in the skipped stitch * repeat from * to * for the row, slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 to join
Round 3-     Repeat round 2 until you reach your desired length(Mine was 18 rows of cross stitch all together)

 You're done! Two very easy cowls :), I hope this was helpful!

                                                                          Sincerely,
                                                                            Evelyn
